A SINGLE’S GUIDE TO ENJOYING VALENTINE’S DAY + OUTFIT INSPIRATION

It’s that time of the year once again! No, not your birthday, Valentine’s day! 14th of February every year is officially the day set aside to celebrate the special person(s) in one’s life (ps: every day should be Valentine’s day when you have loved ones around you) However, some people may not have a special someone that they can celebrate this day with and that could lead to them feeling left out or even envious of others with partners.

I come bearing good news in this post! One does not necessarily need a partner to have fun on Valentine’s day- in fact, singles do it better! There are a lot of interesting things you can do in order to make the most out of this day as a single and I’ve listed some of them below.

  • HAVE A NIGHT IN

Tired from the activities of the day? No problem! The best way to relax is by spending quality time with yourself. Order some food or cook if you do, grab your favorite bottle of wine and catch up on all your favorite tv series! Instead of watching sappy romantic movies like the notebook that would remind you of why you’re home alone on Valentine’s day, settle for an action or sci fi movie with little or no romance.

  • VISIT A FAMILY MEMBER

You know that Aunt you rarely see? Why not take this time to visit her? Valentine’s day can also be celebrated with family members. However, if she’s the type that constantly reminds you of how fast your biological clock is ticking or how you’re not getting any younger as a man, you may want to settle for number 1.

  • HIT THE CLUB

Trust me, there’s no better way to forget your worries than shaking your behind to your favorite artiste’s song in a club surrounded by friends and some strangers! Also, I’ve heard some love stories that began in clubs… 😉

                  Roses are red…

                 Violets are blue…

                Vodka is cheaper than…

                Dinner for two!

  • HAVE A NIGHT OUT WITH SOME FRIENDS

If you detest the idea of spending the night alone or going to a club, you can always go somewhere else with some close friends. Fun activities which you all can engage in include; games like bowling, visiting a museum or zoo, having dinner in a restaurant, etc.

  • WHEN ALL FAILS… SLEEP

So you’re tired of eating, clubbing isn’t your thing, your friends are either married or in a relationship and your family members have already chosen your aso ebi in faith? My next advice is sleep. Sleeping has a lot of health benefits but that’s not the main focus of this post. Remember 14th February is just another day. However, before sleeping, you may as well send some requests to your Father in Heaven!

Valentine’s day doesn’t have to be boring for singles. Like I stated above, there are a lot of fun activities you can engage in without having a partner on this day. Still not convinced? Blogger babe, Adaobi, shared more tips on how to survive this day in her post HERE. I highly recommend you check it out!

Thanks to me 😉, you now have plans that involve leaving your house and your next thought is what to wear? I’ve got you covered! For men, Just throw on a nice shirt with a matching pair of trousers and well polished shoes and you’re good to go.

For ladies, the outfit below should serve as an inspiration. It is chic and perfect for a dinner date with friends, a visit to a family member’s house or even for a club. Paired with a simple makeup look, you just might find Mr Right after all…
